A man at an event. It's the end. I want to drive to him to see him again and say goodbye. He walks back and forth. There is an event in his honour in the assembly hall in the village. Music is being prepared. People are wearing smoking jackets. I'm wearing a suit and tie under my coat. Should I stay here or go to where the man is going to see him off? C. doesn't want to go to the music. The music isn't real enough, too villagey. I climb up the side of a staircase, dropping the socks I'm carrying. I curse. P. hears it. I ask C. to support me so that I don't fall. I say goodbye to the man who reminds me of my uncle with a long hug. As if it were the last time. I kiss a woman on the cheek. She reminds me of an old love.
